Jordyn + Scott, June 10th 2017
Prairie Street Brewhouse, Rockford Illinois
Jordyn and Scott’s wedding was an absolute dream. Not only to plan, envision, and execute, but just to sit back and watch. To see their story come together to this day, was beautiful. We began planning with Jordyn and Scott 12 months prior to their wedding. Over that period of time, Jordyn, Scott, and their family became more than clients to us, they became friends. Planning sweet details, deciding on meal options (the most delicious part of the whole thing!), crafting layouts and seating charts, and curating perfectly executed timelines together meant spending countless hours together. Whether in our studio, at their venue, or being welcomed into Jordyn’s parents home, we were always welcomed.
Jordyn and Scott have been together since high school, and it was one of my favorite things to sit back at their reception and hear from their closest friends all about their love story and how it began. Earlier in the day, I got to hear in detail from all 4 parents the details of how Scott proposed, and how everything came to be. The sweetest stories were told and gave such a great representation of who they are as a couple.
So much thought went in to every detail of this wedding. Every piece of the puzzle intertwined perfectly. From Jordyn’s wedding dress and accessories, to the invitations that were sent out, every part of the wedding had thought and meaning behind it.
Jordyn wore a jaw-dropping Hayley Paige wedding gown that was embellished with the most intricate details on the bodice. These details carried in to her earrings and hair pins as well.
Fun story, Scott had Jordyn’s ring custom made, how gorgeous is that?!
I tell every couple that the invitation is the first touch point that your guests have with your wedding. This is where they get a look and feel of the event as a whole. Jordyn and Scott had invitations custom created that gave a look in to the garden feeling of the wedding that was to come.
Jordyn and the girls got ready at Prairie Street Brewhouse. We utilized a corner of the Barrel Room to station for hair and make up, and then everyone got dressed in the bridal suite. This is where Jordyn’s best friends and mom got her zipped up into her dress, and put the finishing touches on her look.
Scott and the guys got ready at the Radisson Hotel in Rockford before heading over to the Brewhouse.
-The First Look-
Jordyn and Scott had their first look right outside of the Brewhouse and it was one of the sweetest first looks ever. They were so excited to see each other and it was the perfect start to their day!
For formal portraits, the bridal party headed down from the venue. These photos make my heart so happy because they truly show how in love Jordyn and Scott are!
The Ketubah is a contract that is signed for Jewish weddings. This marriage contract is signed just before the ceremony and becomes a lifelong contract to be honored by the bride and groom. Because it’s such an important document, many couples choose a Ketubah that doubles as a beautiful work of art they can display in their home.
The wedding ceremony was just as beautiful as every other part of the day. Jordyn and Scott had one of their dear friends play guitar and sing, which provided such a personal touch to the ceremony. The couple exchanged vows and I do’s on the back dock of Prairie Street Brewhouse.
Details + Decor
This room design may forever go down as a favorite of mine. For their tables we did something so unique and different…each table had its own individual cake! The cakes were on greenery platforms and decorated with a variety of greenery and succulents. As the night went on this allowed guests to interact with their centerpiece, as well as have as much cake as they wanted. There were various flavors of cakes on the tables, so guests would pop around to other tables as well! For their layout we mixed round tables with rectangle kings style seating for family (leaving ample room for a dance floor in front of the stage where their live band would be performing!) For their table numbers, Jordyn and Scott spent time together hunting down each rock together, and then Scott’s sister numbered them!
Cocktail hour immediately followed the ceremony. Jordyn and Scott did something so unique to greet their guests to the wedding…once the doors opened to the reception their band began playing and everyone danced to a few songs before having a seat for introductions. This was such a great way to get the energy going and show everyone just how fun the party that night was going to be!
Introductions, First Dances, Toasts, Blessing of the wine + bread
After a few moments of dancing, guests were seated for Jordyn and Scott to be introduced as newlyweds. Before dinner was served, Jordyn and Scott had their first dance as husband and wife. Jordyn and her father then Scott and his mother danced together. We heard from the Maid Of Honor and Best Man as they told stories of the love story that Scott and Jordyn share. Then the wine and bread were blessed before dinner.
Remember those cakes we mentioned? After dinner, Jordyn and Scott cut their cakes, we invited the rest of the room to do the same.
It wouldn’t be a wedding at Prairie Street if you didn’t sneak outside for photos on the dock at night. This is always such a sweet moment for the newlyweds to escape the chaos of the reception and spend a few moments alone, just soaking in the day!
A little surprise…
Jordyn’s parents own a few McDonald’s restaurants, so what better way to incorporate that than fry socks and a little surprise late night treat of cheeseburgers and nuggets?!
The band that we had at the wedding, Hey, Jimmy!, stole the hearts of everyone who attended the wedding. They put on one of the best parties we have ever seen!
